Mountainscape are a 3 piece instrumental post-metal band from the UK, formed in mid-2019. Their fourth record,'Traversing Realms’, contains two arrangements, ‘Dune’ and ‘The Elder Scrolls’. These have been carefully crafted using themes and melodies from the soundtracks to the recent Dune movies composed by Hans Zimmer and the Oblivion and Skyrim games, composed by Jeremy Soule. Since the inception of the band they’ve described their sound as film score inspired, this release puts that front and centre for the first two tracks. These aren’t simply the band performing from the scores to each soundtrack, they’ve been rebuilt from the ground up in the bands style. Maintaining a balance of post-rock and ambient sections blended with colossal doom and death metal inspired riffs, ethereal melodies and hypnotic blackgaze. In building the world of Dune the band have collaborated with vocalist Amaya López-Carromero (Maud the Moth, Healthy Living) to bring forth the voice from the outer world.
'Traversing Realms' is available on opaque orange vinyl (estimated delivery to be confirmed) and CD digipak.
