TOMB SLAB
The seeds of the project were sown early 2024, as guitarist James Caygill (The Atrocity Exhibit, Hot Cops) and vocalist Dean Lettice (The Infernal Sea) bonded over their mutual love of ‘90s sludge metal, and got to work demoing songs in the vein of bands like Iron Monkey, Eyehategod and Grief. Without a rhythm section, however, the project lay on the back burner whilst the pair remained busy with their other, much faster bands.
In 2025, the pair returned to Tomb Slab with fresh ears, rejuvenated by a bit of downtime from their other projects and inspired by the general misery of modern life. After recruiting bassist John Hunter (Oneiros) and drummer Kez Whelan (Shrykull, Lindow Moss), it wasn’t long until the project took on a life of its own, with James and Dean’s early demos laying a solid foundation for the band’s self-titled debut album.
This album has now been completed, and Tomb Slab are ready to release it to the ears of the world's true sludge fans!
